Robert Edward Carroll, Sr., 87, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, June 6, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Phenix City while surrounded by his loving family.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm EDT on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Pastor Jammie Holloway officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EDT prior to the service at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mr. Carroll was born December 10, 1936, in Opp, AL, son of the late A D Carroll and Willie Lee McCutcheon Carroll. He had served as a control room operator with Meade Coated Board with 30 years of dedicated service and retired. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, participating in church league basketball, and softball, traveling, and fellowship. He loved nature, the outdoors, and working in the garden tending to his many vegetables, especially his okra where it could be fried and shared with everyone. He was a man of great strength and integrity always looking out for his family all his life. He was a Christian and a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church in Smiths Station.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Struble, and two brothers, Durwood Carroll, and Jimmy Carroll.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Kathleen King Carroll of Phenix City, AL; one daughter, Sandra McMahon (Mike) of Phenix City, AL; two sons, Eddie Carroll of Washington, and Mike Carroll (Linda) of Columbus, GA; sister, Ann Anthony of Phenix City, AL; two brothers, Floyd Carroll (Mac) of Smiths Station, AL, and Tommy Carroll (Lynell) of Phenix City, AL; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Tennis, and Christine Thomas (RL); two grandsons, Andrew Carroll (Stephanie), and Matthew Carroll (Jenna); one precious great- grandchild, Lyla; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
