SFC (Ret) Robert Earl Golden, 82, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully while at Piedmont, Midtown, Columbus, GA on Thursday, March 23, 2023 with his family by his side.
Graveside Services with U. S. Army Honors will be held 2:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Rev. Russell Delee officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 PM till 1:15 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Golden was born August 22, 1940 in Tallassee, AL son of the late Obie Newton Golden and Frances Wylene Troup Golden. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart twice during his service. The second wound resulted in him being medically retired from the Army. After his military career, he became a farmer and family man. He enjoyed raising cattle and showing his horses, but growing a family was his greatest joy. We will always remember him fondly for all of the great times we enjoyed together.
Mr. Golden was preceded in death by his mothers Alice Craddick Golden and Frances Golden and father Obie Golden; his wife, Nellie Mae Bailey Golden; siblings; Harold Golden, Barlis Jean Golden, Wesley Golden, Jacquline Golden and Bibb Golden.
Survivors include his three sons, Dave Harrison (Donna), Tallassee, AL, Ronnie Harrison (Patty), Phenix City, AL and Tony Harrison (Lynne), Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Beth Anthony and Martha Jordan; three brothers, Tommy Golden, Hardy Golden and James Golden (Shelly); eight grandchildren, Kimberly Player (Justin), Shane Harrison (April), Robin Richey (Clay), Ashly Moore (Justin), Brittni Harrison, Destry Harrison (Sarah), Elizabeth Sutton, and Kolbi Floyd (Blake); thirteen greatgrandchildren, Morgan, Alex, Heather, Brandon, Mackenzie, Hardy, his “pumpkin” Ansley Kate, Hannah, Allie, Jonah, Alexander, Justin, and Olivia; nine great-greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
