Robert Edd Johnson

Robert Edd “Bob” Johnson, 79, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 14, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am EST on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home 4048 Macon Road Columbus, GA. Interment will follow at Parkhill cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 5 until 7 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson was born in Fayette, AL on July 18, 1935 to the late Author Johnson and Rubye Hughes Johnson Stieringer. He served his country in the US Army and was a mechanic most of his life. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Emily Margaret Lambertus. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margot Johnson; children, Butch Johnson and his late wife Lisa, Susan Floyd and husband James, Thomas Johnson and wife Kim, Nancy Phelps and husband Terry and Ralph Johnson and wife Linda; siblings, Irene VanNorman of Liberty, MS, Maryann Johnson of Northport, AL, Virginia Owen of Plano, TX and Dale Johnson of Fayette, AL; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. The family have requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mr. Johnson's memory to the Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd, Columbus, GA 31909.
