Robert Blake Hanrahan, MD

Robert Blake “Bob” Hanrahan, 40, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on January 14, 2025. Born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, on July 6, 1984 and raised in Grosse Pointe, MI- Bob was the son of Blake and Lianne Hanrahan. Bob was a dedicated physician, specializing in Emergency Medicine and later Palliative Care, and he was committed to providing compassionate care to his patients. He had an innate love of learning—he taught himself Spanish to better communicate with his patients and also passed this skill on to his daughter, Charlie, making sure she would grow up bilingual. Bob also enjoyed mastering complicated recipes for food and drinks, constantly challenging himself and impressing those around him with a mean gin & tonic. 

Above all, Bob’s greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Kat Cole, and their daughter, Charlie Cole Hanrahan. He is also cherished by his parents, Blake and Lianne Hanrahan, and his siblings: Blair Fisher (Joe), Steve Hanrahan (Ali), and Dana Hanrahan. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Liam, Savannah, Edison, Lacey, and Grant. 

Outside of work, Bob loved to travel, try new foods (with a particular fondness for steak), and spend time outdoors running and walking. He was an avid fan of video games, anime, and Harry Potter, and he had a special gift for cartoon artistry. Bob was known for his infectious sense of humor, with his memorable catchphrases, funny faces, and quick wit that made everyone around him laugh. Bob will always be remembered for his kindness, curiosity, and ability to bring joy and laughter to all who knew him. His legacy will live on in his family, his work, and in the many lives he touched.
