Robert Michael "Lefty" Jones

Robert Michael “Lefty” Jones, 71, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Monday morning, December 31, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA

Mr. Jones was born August 5, 1947 in Columbus, GA to the late Belan M. Jones and Helen Baker Jones.  Nick named “Lefty” during his athletic years; he was a graduate of Troy State University.  He had worked as a sales representative with the Premium Beverage Company in Opelika, AL.  He was huge fan of the Auburn Tigers and enjoyed reading, and fellowship with his friends and family.  He was member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Gloria Hambrick Jones, two daughters, Christa Cotton and husband Chris, and Jamie Donelly, one sister, Barbara Preston and husband Tim, mother-in-law, Ella Hambrick, two grandsons, Cody Russell, and Ryan Donnelly, numerous nieces, nephews, several brothers and sisters-in-law, other loving extended family, and many caring friends, and his beloved pet dogs, Mae-Mae, and Odie.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 4:00 pm EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Pastor William Hawk officiating.  A private interment will be held by his family.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm EST, one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Columbus Hospice in memory of Robert Michael Jones.
