Robert Otis Greathouse

Robert Otis Greathouse, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 surrounded in the presence and love of his sons and best friend. 

 Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EST Friday, November 6, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Pastor Robert Goodman officiating.  Interment with full Masonic Rites will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friend’s one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the funeral home.

 Mr. Greathouse was born July 1, 1931 in Troy, AL to the late John Perry Greathouse and Fannie Lou Sellers Greathouse.  He was retired as a Sales Representative from Nabisco, a member of: Wilson Williams Masonic Lodge 351, Phenix City Shrine Club and Summerville Baptist Church.  He served our country faithfully and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Dodd Greathouse.  Mr. Greathouse was an active and dedicated member of the Phenix City Shrine Club, where he often volunteered in support of children in need.  On many occasions he would drive a local child and parent to the Shriners Children Hospital in either Tampa FL or Greenville SC.   It was common for him to be at both hospitals in the same week. 

 He is survived by two sons: “Mark” Andrew Greathouse of West Melbourne FL and Perry “Allen” Greathouse and wife Jackie of Melbourne FL; sister Virginia Willis and husband Jack of Dahlonega GA , “John” Rufus Greathouse and wife Charlotte of Panama City, FL; (5) grandchildren, “Candice” Marie Greathouse and husband “Curtis” Paul Ames, “Miles” Alexander Greathouse, John “Allen” Greathouse, “Alexa” Maria Sommer Greathouse and “Jasmine” Amanda Greathouse;  (3) greatgrandchildren: Dorian, Sebastian and Elliott (children of Candice and Curtis); best friend, Sylvia Braxton, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.
