Ronald Gene "Ron" Lunsford

Ronald Gene “Ron” Lunsford, 77, of Phenix City, AL entered his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, September 14. 2024 to find Jesus waiting with open arms for him. His bedside was surrounded by his loving wife of 58 years, his son, and daughter.

A Graveside Service was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Jared Owens officiating. The family received friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. 

Mr. Lunsford was born April 07, 1947, in Columbus, GA son of the late William C. Lunsford and Inez Spires Lunsford. He had retired from Columbus State University after many years of committed service. 

Ron will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who left a legacy of true faith. He accepted Christ at an early age and continued to serve Him until his call home. Ron was an active member of Golden Acres Baptist Church for many years where he served as a Deacon. He was also a valuable part of the Senior Connect Group at the church where he made coffee every Sunday morning. 

Mr. Lunsford was preceded in death by his parents, William and Inez Lunsford and a daughter-in-law, Heather Lunsford.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Peggy June McKinney Lunsford, Phenix City, AL; a son, Ronald Edward “Eddie” Lunsford, Phenix City, AL and daughter, Vickie Lynn Lunsford Hasty (Jeff Hasty), Phenix City, AL; four grandchildren, Tinsley Christian Price Whitley, Ronald Andrew Lunsford, Kathryn Melany Lunsford, Payton Elizabeth Lunsford Glaze (Laracco Glaze, Jr.); three great-grandchildren, Cayde Leon Whitley, Audrey Elaine Whitley and Layton Kodi Glaze; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
