Rosa Mae Evans

Rosa Mae Evans, 88, of Seale, AL died in the comfort of her home on Thursday, February 15, 2024 surrounded by family. 

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM (EST) on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Evans was born January 1, 1936 in Houston County, AL daughter of the late Cassie Woodham and Annie Lou Sykes Woodham. She had retired from Swift Spinning Mills as a Winder operator. Mrs. Evans loved to fish, garden, and just be outside enjoying nature and specifically her wild birds. She made sure the bird feeder was always supplied. Mrs. Evans also was a quilter. She made numerous hand-made quilts for her family. These will now become family treasures to hand down to future generations.

We will remember her as a simple woman that was full of wisdom. Due to this she was able to teach valuable life lessons. This included loving everyone, even if they are not easy to love. Speaking of love, her family was top priority over ever thing! Her great-grandchildren were at the top of that list too. 

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents, Cassie and Annie Lou Woodham and a sister, Louise Gay.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Dearl G. Evans, Seale, AL; two daughters, Judy Bell (Tom) and Maureen Newman (Jerry); one son, James “Bubba” Evans (Lori); two grandsons, Kyle Shavers and Brad Evans (Jamie)); three precious great-grandchildren, Madison Evans, Mason Evans and Reed Evans; nieces, nephews and friends. 

Flowers will be accepted, or the family asks that donations be made in her memory to your favorite animal rescue shelter.
