Rose Marie Forston of Columbus, GA (formerly of Hammondsport, NY) ascended to her savior on Friday, September 2, 2016. For most of her life, she gave her time, energy and love to many people and organizations – as a faithful volunteer at St Francis’ gift shop, a volunteer for United Way, on the board of the Elizabeth Shepherd home, caring for the elderly and so much more. Her capacity to love was immeasurable. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and was known to pop into several other churches to hear the Word of God.
She loved sipping her tea on her sunroom sofa, while reading and taking notes in her Bible and hosting Bible studies in her home. She also loved dancing, singing, bringing family and friends together as often as possible, laughing until she tinkled, slumber parties, and being surrounded by children. She especially loved any occasion where she could decorate her home until it overflowed with joy. She was the life of the party and made so many people on the fringes feel seen and loved. She never knew a stranger.
She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate, Dr. David Forston Sr., her children Susan Jacques Oyster (Steve) and Jill Jacques (Pam), her step-children Diane Raimondo (Joe), Mike Jacques, David Forston Jr. (Stephanie), Evelyn Forston Patton (Jamie), her grandchildren Chad Oyster (Kristi), Lindsay Oyster Waller (Brad), Kellie, Eric, Jason, Katie, Mindy, great-grandchildren Olivia, Sophia, Bailey Grace, Mirabel, Madison and two Godchildren, Sarah and Hannah. She leaves behind her sisters Joanie, Janet, Leah (her twin) and her dear friend Tiffany Vinsant and joins in Heaven her sister Nancy and brother Charles.
A celebration of her vivacious life will be Saturday, September 10 at St. Mark United Methodist Church at 2:00pm. In accordance with Rosie’s loving nature, flowers will be donated after the service throughout the community to those who need uplifting and beauty in their lives.
Peace be with you, sweet Rosie. We know you are having a joyful party with those loved ones who passed before you – your Mom, Kay, Susan, Penny, Granny, Gene, and others. The world will be less fun and much quieter without you in it.
