Mrs. Rowena Wynn Cook of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm EDT Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. A private interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cook was born December 3, 1937 in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late Otis Wynn and Alice Lockhart Fuller. She retired from Civil Service, where she worked in patient services at Martin Army Hospital on Ft. Benning for over 13 years. She also worked for Litho-Krome, the Phenix City School System and Phenix Girard Bank. Mrs. Cook enjoyed cooking, sewing, dancing and tending to her flowers. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her two fur babies, Zoe and Bear. Mrs. Cook was a former member of the Moose Lodge.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Thomas Cook; a son, Mark Cook; a sister, Lavonia Wynn and a grandson, Curtis Culpepper.
Ms. Cook is survived by three daughters, Debra Cook Culpepper and husband Michael of Smiths Station, AL, Terri Cook of Phenix City, AL and Cindy Cook Harris and husband Bryan of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Stacy Flynn Cox (Charlie), Jessica Cook, Christie Smith (Jimbo), Kayla Harris and Jessica Harris; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Massey and Dylan Hadley; a great-great-grandchild, Ollie Massey; nieces, Mickey Cook and Tina Harbin as well as friends and extended family.
