Roy F. Mclendon, Sr.

Roy F. McLendon, Sr., 74, of Phenix City, AL died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. David Dollar officiating.  A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mr. McLendon was born March 31, 1945 in Pike County, AL son of the late Marvin McLendon and Lila Mae Jordan McLendon.  He worked for Fieldcrest Mills for several years but retired from the Russell County Engineering Department.  Mr. McLendon loved gospel singing and football, especially Alabama football.  He was a member of White Rock Freewill Baptist Church.

Other than his parents, Mr. McLendon was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Mae McLendon; one sister, Delores Baldwin and one brother, Alfred McLendon.

Mr. McLendon is survived by his children Roy F. McLendon, Jr. of Smiths Station, AL, Shannon McLendon of Columbus, GA, Lisa McLendon of Salem, AL and Bobbi Nixon and husband Craig of Valley, AL; sisters, Ruth Hollins and husband Don and Eloise Bailey and husband Terry; brothers, Julius McLendon, Gerald McLendon and wife Clara, Wayne McLendon and wife Diane, Ray McLendon and wife Sherry and Fred McLendon and wife Faye; sister-in-law and caregiver Peggy Sue McLendon; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.   

The family encourages everyone to wear their Alabama attire.
