Roy Green Mobley

Roy Green Mobley, 100, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL with Pastor Gerald Corbin officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens Monday morning at 10:00 am.  The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.  Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Howie’s Café and friends at Wells Fargo Bank, Rainbow Foods and the Lee County Satellite MVR & Title Office.

Mr. Mobley was born February 3, 1917 in New Hope, AL to John Hillary Mobley and Beatrice Benjamin Mobley.  He retired as a Quality Control Manager from Swift Mills with 39 years of service.  He served our country with honor as a World War II Veteran in the United States Army.  Mr. Mobley was a gentleman of strong values and work ethics never missing a day of work in 30 years.  He enjoyed playing his guitar, country music, visiting Gospel singings, watching westerns on TV, and working in his garden.  He was a member of Bush Road Emanuel Holiness Church in Smiths Station, AL.

 Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Bertha Price Mobley and Sarah Sanderson Maughan Mobley, one daughter, Betty Rykken, and seven siblings.

He is survived by his children, Herschel Clyde Mobley and wife Charla of Birmingham, AL, two daughters, Hazel Beard and husband Robert Pitcole of Mableton, GA, and Mary Ann Dodson and husband Larry of Thompson Station, TN, (11) grandchildren, (16) great grandchildren, and (7) great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
