Royce Dwain Roughton, Sr.

Royce Dwain Roughton, Sr., 60, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 surrounded by his family.

A funeral service is 3pm Monday, February 12, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel with burial at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Rev. Donnie Lumpkin will officiate. Family will meet after the service at aunt Myrtle Shiver’s home, 637 Lee Rd. 236, Phenix City, AL 36870. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.

Mr. Roughton was born December 23, 1957 in Opp, AL to the late John D. Roughton and Mary Evelyn Morrison Roughton Bowden. Royce enjoyed building things. He became a carpenter at an early age and spent the rest of his life building homes and other construction. He was a member of City Gate Church in Phenix City. Royce was a big Bama fan and enjoyed racing. He never meet strangers and loved time around family and friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John D. Roughton, Jr.

He is survived by his longtime companion wife, Cindy Coulter; children, Mary Elizabeth Peterson and husband Tim and Royce Roughton, Jr. and wife Danielle; step-children, Adam Coulter, Joey Coulter and Crystal Jernigan; sisters, Sheila Whitman and Wendy Weaver; (13) grandchildren a many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many caring friends.
