Rufus Herman Wells of Salem Alabama passed away peacefully at the age of 84, on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Phenix City Healthcare.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 2:00 until 3:30 at Smiths Station Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 with Dr. David Kees presiding. Private interment with Military Honors will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Mr. Wells was born July 8, 1931 in Talladega, Alabama to the late John Dewey Wells and Julia A. Ray Wells. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Deacon Board and a Sunday School Teacher at Smiths Station Baptist Church. He retired as a construction superintendent from Freeman and Associates. Herman enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, traveling, and church activities.
Herman is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Betty Morris Wells of Salem, son Christopher Wells (Sherry), daughters Deborah Bradshaw (Gene), Lynn Gibason (Al), and Amy Dean (Carey), brother James Wells (Ethel) sister in laws Katherine Wells and Annette Wells, grandchildren Austin Carden (Erica), Brandon Carden (Jamie), Courtney Watkins (Matt), Jackson Wells, Jordan Wells, Blake Dean, Tanner Dean, McKenna Dean, Corban Dean, great grandchildren, Jonah Carden, Dylan Carden, Bella Carden, Miles Carden, Braylan Carden, Wesley Carden, many nieces and nephews preceded by brothers J.D. Wells, Norman Wells (Linda), Garvin Wells, and sister Ophelia Lett (Barney), and sister in laws Sarah Wells and Mary Wells.
