Russell Eugene Hasson, Jr

Russell Eugene Hasson, Jr, age 67, resided in Columbus, Ga, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30am, Wednesday October 29, 2014, at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. Reverend Deawn Richards will be officiating services. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST at the funeral home. Mr. Hasson was born February 25, 1947 in Fairfield, Ohio, son of the late Russell Eugene Hasson, Sr. and Erma May Gill Hasson. Gene is preceded in death by his wife of 45 wonderful years, Dorothy Jean Hasson. He was employed with West Central Georgia Regional Hospital as Supervisor of Facilities. Gene served in the Vietnam War from March 1966 to March 1969; he was honorably discharged with the rank of E5. Gene met the love of his life the late Dorothy Jean Hasson and they were married April 17, 1969. Gene worked hard to provide for his family and was diligent in the care of his wife. He was an active member of the First UPC, now known as the Church of Columbus. He served as the Project Manager for the construction of the new church. He is leaving his legacy behind to his children; Carl and Dawn Thrasher, Gary and Brenda Thrasher, Jim and Sandy Thrasher Wiersma, Michael and Carol Hasson; one sister Cheryl Hasson. He had eleven grandchildren; Elicia Thrasher Prickett, Tommy Martin, Daryl Martin, Gerald Thrasher, Meghan Thrasher Catrett, Mallory Thrasher, Amber Taylor, Chad Whitaker, Candice Whitaker, C.J. Cotton and Michael Hasson, Jr; great-grandchildren, Bradley Martin, Nicola Martin, Kami Wells, Slaytan Catrett, Madison Taylor, Ella Whitaker, Grady Colt Parks, Brayden Taylor; he is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
