Phenix City, Alabama resident Ruth Ann Heisey, 81, died at home April 18, 2021 surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm EST, Monday, May 3, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Steven Shelley officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service from 2:30 to 4:00 pm at Ruthann’s Restaurant, 941 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31901.
“Miss Ruthann”, as she came to be known in the Columbus area was married to John L Heisey for 57 years. Born in Annville, PA, daughter of Mae Grove and Edward Lippart; she and her husband were blessed with six children, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was an avid restaurateur through the 1960s and 1970s in the Hershey, PA area.
They traveled a great deal during their marriage including one and a half years in Israel before settling in Tucson, AZ where she owned and operated Group homecare facilities for elderly persons.
A semi-retirement brought them to the Columbus area where within months Miss Ruthann bought the now local landmark, Ruthann’s Restaurant. Not exactly what most people have in mind for retirement?
Ruthann and John were faithful members of New Hope Revival Ministries in Salem, AL. Her steadfast faith in the Lord influenced how she cared for everyone in her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John L Heisey, Sr, grandchildren, Aaron Gleason, Logan Kean, and great-grandchild, Mikayla Shreiner, brothers, Charlie Lippart, Harry Lippart, and Edward Lippart, Jr.
She is survived by children; Kelley L Lahner, John L Heisey, Jr, Gregory B Heisey, Lisa A Kean, Daniel E Heisey, and Mary E Heisey.
Grandchildren: Isaac Shreiner, Benjamin L Shreiner, Nadine M Hosmer, Brent A Shreiner, Allyson K Heisey, Gregory B Heisey,Jr.,Morgan F Heisey, Sidney J Saber, Willow E Spaulding.
Great-grandchildren: Danny Davidson, Netanya L Shreiner, Isabelle E Shreiner, Addison K Shreiner, Tyler A Shreiner, Evan R Shreiner, Rosemary R Hosmer, Lillian M Hosmer.
