Ryley Christopher Sims, 21, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday morning, January 8, 2024, in Columbus, GA.
Ryley was born October 8, 2002, in Columbus, GA to Malcom Fred Sims, Jr. and Kendra Johnson Sims. He grew up in the Smiths Station / Phenix City community and was a 2021 graduate of Smiths Station High School. Ryley was employed with Tractor Supply in Phenix City and enjoyed his many opportunities everyday as a customer service representative. He enjoyed playing soccer and video games. He recently took a strong interest in skateboarding and was very enthusiastic about raising chickens. Any extra time was spent with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Malcom Fred Sims, Sr. and Susan Gladys Sims.
He is survived by his wife, Layla Renee Whitaker of Hamilton, GA; daughter, Railynn Sims plus a little boy on the way; his parents, mother, Kendra Johnson Sims of Phenix City, AL; father, Malcom Fred Sims, Jr. of Fort Gaines, GA; his sister, Avery Sims; maternal grandparents, Ken and Athena Johnson; mother-in-law, Tricia Whitaker; a brother-in-law, Brody Whitaker; numerous other loving family members, and friends.
His family plans to hold a private memorial time to honor Ryley’s life. The family will hold a visitation time and receive friends Monday evening, January 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City.
