Sandra Kathleen “Kathy” Gaynor

Sandra Kathleen “Kathy” Gaynor, 62, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022. Born on May 31, 1960 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Kathy was the daughter of Louis D. Gaynor and Glenda James Merrill.

Kathy was a generous and faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ and dealt gracefully with her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Kathy was a ’77 graduate of Hardaway High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Master’s Degree from Florida State University. She worked for the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection, then for the U.S. Government DOD as a hazardous waste engineer in Cuba, Afghanistan, Japan, and Romania. Most recently, she worked as a Naval employee in Italy. She also volunteered for the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection in several Central American countries.

Kathy is survived by her daughter Abigail Anderson of Scott’s Valley, CA; her son Josiah Anderson of Huntsville, AL; her mother Glenda Merrill and her sister Mitzi Gaynor, both of Columbus, GA; sister Laura Gaynor (Charlie) Dukes of Newberry, SC; and grandchildren Oliver and Charlotte Corona of Scott’s Valley, CA.
