Sandra "Sandy" Smith

Sandra "Sandy" Smith of Smiths Station, Alabama passed away on June 21, 2024 at Columbus Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the same location. An interment service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery at 11:30 AM the same day. Flowers are welcome, or donations can be made to Columbus Hospice House in honor of Sandy.

Born on October 4, 1951, in Columbus, Georgia to parents Tommie Jackie Renfroe and Etta Lorene (Skidmore) Renfroe, Sandy was a compassionate soul who touched the lives of many. She dedicated many years to her career as a Billing Specialist for Columbus Regional until her retirement. In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, watching cooking shows, and attending Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Phenix City, Alabama where she and her husband were founding and dedicated members.

However, Sandy's true essence shone brightest in her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her, and she found pure joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she doted on each member with unconditional love and care. Known for embodying a mother's heart until the very end, she selflessly looked after those around her even when she needed care herself.

In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Tillman Smith, and cherished daughter Gail Smith.

Sandy is survived by her beloved daughter Stephanie Brown and son-in-law Don of Phenix City, Alabama; grandson Tyler Brown and his wife Samantha of Phenix City, Alabama; granddaughter Hannah Ryals and her husband Nolen of Phenix City, Alabama; great-grandchildren Gemma, Malcolm, Otis, Nash, and two more on the way; sister JoAnn English of Phenix City, Alabama; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandra's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her close-knit family is a testament to the legacy of love she leaves behind.
