Sandra Carolyn Stokes

Sandra Carolyn Curenton Stokes, 61, of Opelika, AL died at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Monday, April 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Reverend David Dollar and Sister Gail Donoghue officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM on Monday.

Mrs. Stokes was born March 6, 1962 in Columbus, GA daughter of Elizabeth Ann Nugent Curenton and the late Aaron Curenton. She worked for TSYS for over 20 years in Customer Service. Carolyn loved to go to Lake Martin and spend time on her boat and jet ski with family and friends. She also loved to practice being a “mixologist” trying new things on friends and family. Carolyn loved life and all it had to offer, but the best part of her life was her grandchildren.  We will remember her as being a great wife, mom, loving, funny, always helping others and a hard worker.

Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her father, Aaron Curenton, and two brothers, Aaron R. Curenton and Johnny L. Curenton.

Survivors include her husband, David D. Stokes, Opelika, AL; four sons, Robert W. Harrell, Westley K. Harrell (Kendall Comins), Jeremy A. Stokes (Amber L. Chambers) and Justin D. Stokes; two siblings, Janie McPherson (Larry) and Thomas E. Curenton; two grandchildren, Westley M. Harrell and Bentley D. Morgan; several nieces, nephews and friends.
