Sandra Faye Sykes

Ms. Sandra Faye Sykes, 76, of Opelika, AL passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EDT (1:00 pm CDT) Monday, July 8, 2024 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow at Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm EDT (2:00 pm until 4:00 pm CDT) at the funeral home. 

Ms. Sykes was born December 9, 1947 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Willie B. Pugh and Carrie Grimes Pugh Ward. She worked in the printing industry at Cotswold until her retirement. Ms. Sykes enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her plants. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. Ms. Sykes loved spending time with her friends and her family. If she liked you, she called you babe.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kaye Washam; a son, Butch Washam; a sister, June Langford and a brother, Eddie B. Pugh.

Ms. Sykes is survived by her son, Tony Sykes of Smiths Station, AL; a sister, Debra Carmack of Opelika, AL; a grandchild, Chelsea Bussey and husband Adam of Smiths Station, AL; as well as friends and extended family.
