Sara Lucy Pearce Adams, age 86, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City on Saturday, November 28, 2020, 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 1-2 p.m.
Sara, daughter of the late Dewey and Edith Pearce, was born October 12, 1934 in Columbia, Alabama. While still attending high school, she worked at the Bradley Theatre. After high school she then worked as a secretary for a large insurance company. Sara then began a career in the restaurant industry and purchased Whitt’s Café in Columbus. Later on, she acquired Evelyn’s Café, where she owned and operated for the past 49 years. Sara enjoyed going to country music concerts at a young age, enjoyed solving puzzles, and visiting her family and friends on Facebook. The family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother – a lady who put everyone ahead of herself.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Pearce. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Stanley Adams of Phenix City; one son, Charles Eugene Owens, Jr., DDS and his wife Terri of Ringgold, Georgia; two daughters, Lisa Kim Lewis of Columbus, Georgia and Sheri Adams Gould and her husband Steve of Salem, Alabama; 22 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
