Phenix City, AL

Sara Elizabeth “Liz” Wise, 94, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, February 23, 2025, at the Lakewood Senior Living Facility in Smiths Station, AL.

Mrs. Wise was born February 4, 1931, in Williamsport, PA, daughter of the late Clarence T. Ardell and Sara Elizabeth Sowers Ardell. She was employed with the W C Bradley Company in Columbus, GA with many years of faithful service and retired. She served as treasurer for her local VFW 5228 Club, and as treasurer for the Salem Homemakers. She loved fellowship, cooking, baking, traveling, bowling, including taking pleasure both teaching and working at the bowling alley. She loved all her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Epworth Methodist Church in Phenix City and enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in church activities. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Kathryn “Kitty” Calvert, Irma “Trudy” Chadderdon, Nancy Spooner, and Jane Stewart, three brothers. Clarence T. “Gus” Ardell, Jr., Charles Ardell, and Robert Ardell, and two daughters-in-law, Janet Wise, and Deb Wise.

She is survived by her children, Robert L. Wise, Jr. of Salem, AL, William E. Wise of Columbus, GA, Lisa Wise Livingston (Eddie) of Smiths Station, AL, and Poo Carrero (Jeff) of Smiths Station, AL; four grandchildren, Robert Edward Livingston (Tiffany), Jeffrey Carrero, Jr. (Camden), Hannah Wise, and Nolan Carrero (Savannah), and three precious great grandchildren, Jaxon Livingston, Carter Carrero, and Bexley Carrero, numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.

Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to Epworth Methodist Church in Phenix City in Loving memory of Mrs. Sara Elizabeth “Liz” Wise.
