Sarah Jean Abercrombie

Sarah Jean Vance Abercrombie, 89, formerly of Phenix City, AL, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Phenix City Healthcare in Phenix City, AL.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm EST, Friday, September 16, 2016, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Cummings officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Abercrombie was born July 24, 1927, in Coffee County, AL, daughter of the late Jessie James Vance and Minnie Bedsole Vance.  She retired from Schobilt Manufacturing after many years of service.  After retirement she loved volunteering at Cobb Hospital and the Boys Club.  Throughout the years, she was a second mother to all of her brothers and sisters.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jessie Abercrombie; three sisters, Winnie Stanton, Alberta Allen and Lorene Brooks; five brothers, Roy Vance, Charles Vance, Leon Vance, James Vance and Lesley Vance.  

Mrs. Abercrombie is survived by her son, Clifford Abercrombie of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Louise Morris of Pace, FL and Norma Ruth Corbitt of Ft. Mitchell, AL; two brothers, Landon Vance and wife Betty of Phenix City, AL and Wesley Vance of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, Brett and Brandon Abercrombie of Cleveland, AL; two great-grandchildren, Addyson and Destiny. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
