Sarah Joan Kemp Harbuck

Sarah Joan Kemp Harbuck, 83, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon EDT Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Lynn McManious officiating. A private interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Harbuck was born November 25, 1931 in Phenix City, AL to the late Henry Carter Kemp and Sarah Elizabeth Hudson Kemp. She was retired from Bellsouth with 23 A½ years of service. Mrs. Harbuck was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, member of the VFW Auxiliary Local #5979, the CWA/CIO #3212 in Columbus, GA, formally sang in choir at North Phenix Baptist Church, WMU's, had served as a Sunday School teacher, formally Training Union of North Phenix Baptist Church, and was a dedicated member of North Phenix Baptist Church in Phenix City. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Seth Gifford Harbuck, and a brother, Jack Alton Carter Kemp. She is survived by her children, Deborah H. Jones and husband, Ronald of Columbus, GA, and Jeffrey Seth Harbuck and wife, Lisa of Mauk, GA; one sister, Diane Jeanie Kemp White of Columbus, GA, three brothers, Francis Neil Kemp and wife Patsy of Lawrenceville, GA, Reginald Wayne Kemp and wife Linda of Atlanta, GA, and Dannie Carter Kemp and wife Cheryl of Hamilton, GA. (4) Grandchildren, Matthew Stewart Jones, Andrew Seth Jones, Robert G. Wright, and MaryElizabeth Harbuck, several nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
