Sfc (Ret) Kenneth Lamar Harris Sr.

SFC (Ret) Kenneth Lamar Harris Sr., 70, of Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 beginning at 11:30 AM with Rev. Dean Long officiating. The interment will conclude at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM, one hour prior to the service. In keeping with efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, facemasks and social distancing will be encouraged.

Kenneth was born on May 16, 1951 in Hogansville, GA to the late Aaron and Joyce (Woodruff) Harris. He proudly served our country in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Not long ago he also retired from Goldens’ Foundry and Machine Co. as the EPA Supervisor after a successful 22-year career. Kenneth was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan who enjoyed fishing, grilling and going on long drives with his wife. He took great pride in his home and property, winning “Yard of the Month” on numerous occasions while in the military. His greatest accomplishment was being incredibly loving and devoted to his family. Kenneth was a member of Ft. Perry Baptist Church in Mauk, GA.

Other than his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his son Kenneth Lamar Harris Jr. and his brothers Aaron Lee Harris Jr. and Phillip Harris.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 40 years Patricia Harris; daughters Angela Olds (Christophe Greer) of Columbus, GA, Tracey Olds of Fortson, GA and Regina Harris of Greenville, AL; sister Sandra Wynn of Newnan, GA; grandchildren John Fecso (Erica), Christopher Fecso (Malorie), Conner Olds, Caleb Grantham, Sky Stephenson (Nathan), Cody Harris (Macie), Wesley Harris (Amy), Austin Harris and Shelby Harris. He also had 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
