Sfc (Ret.) Pablo Sanchez

SFC (Ret.) Pablo Sanchez Jr., 86, of Columbus, GA passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, April 01, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST, with the Reverend Jim Hilderbrand and the Reverend Albert Jackson officiating.  The service will conclude at the Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery with full military honors.  The family will receive friends Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.  

Pablo was born January 19, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parents of the late Pablo Sanchez Sr. and Isabel Pucio Sanchez.  He was a Catholic by faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to his children’s and grandchildren’s practices and games.  He served proudly in the United States Army for 23 years.  He served two tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam.  He was awarded various medals, including the Bronze Star.  He also retired from Burnham Moving Company and then opened his own businesses, Quality Moving Van and Multi Model Moving Company.

Other than his parents, Pablo is predeceased by loving wife of 59 years, Valeska Sanchez.

Survivors include two daughters:  Rosemarie Ogburn of Columbus, GA and Isabella Lang (Tommy) of Columbus, GA; one son, Pablo Sanchez III (Gaye Haynes) of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Rosalee Saunille of New Orleans, LA; two brothers:  Ernester Sanchez (Mary Ann) of New Orleans, LA and Gilberto Sanchez of New Orleans, LA; six grandchildren:  Robert Ogburn (Natalie) of Midland, GA, Christina Ogburn of Columbus, GA, David Lang (Kristy) of Columbus, GA, Tiffany Gaddy (Dallas) of Ft. Louis, WA, Nicholas Haynes (Kayla) of Paducah, KY, and Jaye Haynes of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren:  Hayden Paul Ogburn, Addison Ogburn, Charlie Faye Haynes, Dawson Louis Haynes, Gavin Russell Haynes, Alex Lara, Harlynn Lang, Wyatt Lang, and Brantley Worth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
