Sgt (Ret) John Henry Cooper

SGT (Ret) John H. Cooper, 96, of Columbus, GA passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 in Garland, TX.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA with Pastor Bud Rupel officiating.  Interment is to be at Parkhill Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 18, 2015, 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST. at the funeral home. 

SGT (Ret) John H. Cooper was born June 25, 1919 in Lafayette, IN to Clarence T. Cooper and Lucy B. Elkins.

SGT (Ret) John H. Cooper, a survivor of WWII, served in the United States Army with posts including France, Panama Canal Zone, Iceland, Greenland, and many others state side.  SGT (Ret) Cooper was very active in his church, Benning Park Assembly of God, and later at Evangel Temple.

SGT (Ret) Cooper was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Jessie L. Cooper (in 2004), and his loving son, Terry W. Cooper, SR (in 2015); two sisters:  Claudia Lewis and Ruth Hart; and one brother, George Cooper.

SGT (Ret) Cooper is survived by his loving daughters:  Debbie C. Rucker (Eddie) of Mesquite, TX; Jackie C. Yelton (David) of Allen, TX and Angela C. Scow (Kevin) of Columbus, GA; his Daughter-in-law, Patsy S. Cooper of Hattiesburgh, MS.; and a son, Wayne Cooper of Columbus, GA.

SGT (Ret) Cooper had fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
