Sgt (Ret.) Kenneth Mcconnell

SGT (Ret.) Kenneth McConnell, 66, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.  A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 Highway 165, Fort Mitchell, AL  36856 on Monday, June 06, 2016 beginning at 2:00 P.M. EST.  Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA is in charge of the arrangements.   

Mr. McConnell was born November 22, 1949 in Osaka, Japan to the parents of Keiko Yasaka McConnell and the late Victor D. McConnell.   He was a United States veteran, who proudly served in the United States Marines for four active years prior to transferring to the United States Army National Guard from which he retired after sixteen years of service.  He served during the Vietnam War.

Other than his father, Mr. McConnell is predeceased by a sister, Sandy Cramer, and a brother, Duane McConnell.

Survivors include his mother, Keiko Yasaka McConnell; one son, Stuart McConnell of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters:  Brenda Culverhouse of Columbus, GA and Kathy Kawalek (Kenneth) of Jacksonville, FL; four brothers:  Bruce McConnell (Donna) of Millington, TN, Mark McConnell of Blackshear, GA, Terry McConnell (Daniel Kelly) of Louisville, KY, and Dennis McConnell (Jan) of Paw Paw, WV; two grandchildren:  Shae McConnell of SC and Haley Humphrey of FL.
