Sgt(Ret) Louis William Jones, Sr

SGT(Ret) Louis William Jones, Sr., 68, of Phenix City, AL. was called home early Monday, June 22, 2015 in the peace and comfort of his home.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am EDT Friday, June 26, 2015 at 1st Baptist Church of Phenix City with Bro. Wayne Wright and Fred “Bubba” Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the Vance Memorial Chapel of Phenix City.

Mr. Jones was born July 10, 1946 in Columbus, GA, to the late William Frank Jones and Betty Mae Jones.

Mr. Jones was a dedicated law enforcement officer beginning his career with the Columbus Auxiliary Police, serving as the Chief of Police of Lumpkin, Ga., a police officer with Dawson, Ga. Police Department, and retired after 32 years as Sgt. with the Phenix City Police Department.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Wayne Jones, Tommy Jones and Ricky Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Rhodes-Jones; Children: Louis Jr. “Billy” and Cricket Jones, Traci Winchester, Brent Dorton, Kalen Jones and Wade Sieck, Melissa and Horace Gibson, Melinda and Chris Boyett and Milene Rhodes and Rich Joyce, brothers, Larry and Joyce Jones and Ronnie and Sharon Jones; grandchildren, Hailey Jones, Cody Jones, Wade Jones, John Winchester, Jake Winchester, Joel Winchester, Preston Dorton, Hannah Peavy, Emmaleigh Peavy, Gracie Gidson, Rebekah Boyett, Shelbey Pearson and Cole Pearson; 6 precious great grandchildren and his faithful Canine Kid, Elvis. Many extended family members and host of loving friends. Mr. Jones will be remembered as a loving father, husband, and a true friend by all who knew him.
