Sharon Kay Blankenship Simpson

Sharon Kay Blankenship Simpson, 64, of Ft. Mitchell, AL died at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital, Phenix City, AL on Saturday, July 06, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM (EST) in Cottonton Baptist Church, Cottonton, AL with Rev. Robert Rhodes officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow in Oswichee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the church on Wednesday. 

 Mrs. Simpson was born April 26, 1960, in Union Springs, AL daughter of Willie Ray Blankenship and Matha Holland Blankenship. She was an active member of Cottonton Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Ms. Sharon also enjoyed worshiping with family and friends at the church. She loved to just go, she was always ready to go to an event such as a football game or cookout. Combine an Alabama Football game day with a cookout and she was first in line to go. Ms. Sharon also enjoyed fishing and caring for stray animals.

She will be missed more than our words can express; however, the memories will always be in our hearts. 

Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Blankenship. 

Survivors other than her parents, Roy and Matha Blankenship, Ft. Mitchell, AL, include her son, Jacob Landingham, Ft. Mitchell, AL; a sister, Penny Wood (Steve) and two brothers, Steve Blankenship (Vicky) and Randy Leon Blankenship (Dawn); the church members of Cottonton Baptist and numerous extended family and other friends.
