Shirley Ann Parsons

Shirley Ann Arrington Parsons, 78, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm EST, on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rob Goodman officiating. A private interment will follow.  The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 pm EST, two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Parsons was born on September 26, 1939 in Clio, AL daughter of the late Curlie Wade Arrington and Janie Lou Fleming Arrington.  She worked for many years with Dr. Floyd Jarrell and later retired with 25 years of service from OBGyn Associates.  Mrs. Parsons was a long time member of Summerville Baptist Church, where she worked with the food closet, the decorating committee and sang in both the adult and senior choir.   

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Homer and Nellie Parsons, a brother-in-law, David W. Schrage and a nephew, Bill Bowers.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James Homer Parsons, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; a daughter, Tammy Renee Parsons Phoenix and husband Roy of Phenix City, AL; a son, Gregory James “Greg” Parsons, Sr. and wife Anita of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Joy Agnes Arrington Schrage and Mary Lou Arrington Bowers and husband Royce, both of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Gregory Parsons, Jr. (Karlee), Rebecca Hall (Ryan), Andrew Kilcrease (Kerrie), Nathan Kilcrease (Kristy) and Rachel Marks (Derek); great-grandchildren, Cadence Hall, Ryker Smith and Charlotte Marks; many other extended family and friends.
