Shirley Ann Thornton

Shirley Ann Layfield Thornton, 84, of Phenix City, AL died at her residence on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, December 27, 2020 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dr. Wayne Scarbrough officiating. A private interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from Saturday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thornton was born July 20, 1936 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late C. W. Layfield and Vera Knowles Layfield. She was a homemaker and a member of Life Church. One of her favorite things to enjoy was writing inspirations verses and poems. These fond reminders and other memories will always live on in our hearts.
Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jimmy Thornton, brother, Denton Layfield and sister, Myrtis McTaggart and Janice Graham.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Briley (Randall) and son, Morris Thornton all of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Justin Briley (Carleigh). Jonathan Briley; great-grandchildren, River Briley, Harper Briley and Piper Briley; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
