Shirley “Madge” Lee Harris, 81, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 surrounded by her family at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Grantham officiating. A private burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 9:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Harris was born June 5, 1935 in Thomaston, GA, daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Ila Miller Lee. She was the director of the Central Activities Center for many years and was part of the Shrinettes of Phenix City. She enjoyed traveling, ceramics and cooking,
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Terry James Harris and siblings, Frank Lee, Dorothy Lee, Jean Harden and Ronald Lee.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy E. Harris; daughter, Karen “Kay” Harris of Phenix City; brother, Bobby Joe Lee of Columbus, GA; sister-in-law, Esther Bailey of Phenix City; a grandchild, Terri (Misty) Harris; 2 great-grandchildren, John Patrick Nelson and Zander Lloyd Wells and special friend Jean Grantham; several extended family members and many caring friends.
