Shirley M. Kennedy, 81, of Phenix City, AL died Monday, July 27, 2020 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kennedy was born August 21, 1938 in Russell County, AL, daughter of the William Robert Hayes and Beulah Carnley Hayes. She retired as an Inspector from Ampex Corp. after many years of service. Later she opened her own real estate firm, Welcome Home Realty. Mrs. Kennedy was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church for over 60 years and taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Kirby E. Kennedy, Sr., two grandsons, Christopher Webster and Kirby E. Kennedy, III; a sister, Bobbie Jean Hayes; two brothers, Alfred Earl Hayes and William A. Hayes.
Mrs. Kennedy is survived by a four daughters, Marie Walden of Phenix City, AL, Sandra Kittrell and husband Kenneth of Phenix City, AL, Gretchen Mann and husband Bubba of Salem, AL and Brenda Clement of Phenix City, AL one son, Kirby E. Kennedy, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; a sister, Jerlane Forrest and husband Donald of Phenix City, AL; a brother, James M. Hayes and wife Regina of Phenix City, AL; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; several other extended family, church family and friends.
