Shirley Maebell Gossett Hobbs, 78, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Cecil Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hobbs was born April 7, 1939 in Dalton, GA to the late Charley L Gossett and Maebell Wimpy Fuller. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whom was very devoted to her family. She loved spending quality time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, (as she would say, the whole bunch); she enjoyed crafting and embroidering, and she was a Christian by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Patrissa Black, sister, Ella Manger, and two grandchildren, Patrissa Lynn Black, and Dean Frankie Crook.
She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, James Hobbs, Sr., (5) daughters, Sherril Frank and husband Charles, Mary Brown and husband Frankie, Kathy Godwin, Robbie Anderson and husband John Law, and Tammy Waltmon and husband Billy, one brother, Lawrence Gossett and wife Jeri, (11) grandchildren, (16) great grandchildren, (4) great great grandchildren, a host of extended family, and many friends.
