Sibyl Alaska Chumney

Sibyl C. Chumney, 87, of Phenix City, Al passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am EST Friday, February 19, 2016 at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Chuck Enfinger officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Chumney was born July 4, 1928 in Mt. Airy, GA to the late Andrew Jackson Clark and Lillian Pauline Hefner Clark.  She was retired from Sunshine Biscuits with 31 years of service and a member of the Welcome Home Church in Mt. Airy, GA.  She enjoyed fishing, sweets, and spending time with family.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Ray” Chumney, a daughter, Linda Ellis, and a sister, Ethel Sanders.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Carsten (Pete), Kathy Glenn (Delmar), and Sheila Aaron (Rafael Rivera), Grandson, Gary Chumney, sisters, Yvonne Bullard, Ann Harmon (Cal), Barbara Stanridge (Charles) and Joy Anderson (Daniel); brother, William Jackson “WJ” Clark (Fran), (6) grandchildren, (16) great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
