Sonny "Abe" Morton

Sonny “Abe” Morton, 80, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm EST, on Monday, September 26, 2016, at Vance Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at Morton Gilbert Cemetery and the family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 pm EST at the funeral home.

Sonny was born on November 8, 1935, in Lee County, AL, the son of William Andrew Morton and Katie Bell Gilbert Morton. He worked with Sheet Metal Workers International Association for 50 years and was a talented musician.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Morton; 3 children, Barbara Ann DeMarco of Las Vegas, NV, Daniel G. Morton, wife Carmen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Tina K. Johnson, husband Rob of Cumming, GA; 2 sisters, Harriet Wright and Mary Ann Howard, both of Phenix City, AL; 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Peter, Ian and Tyler; extended family members and many caring friends.
