Sra (Usaf) Dean Austin Gunter

Senior Airman (SrA) Dean Austin Gunter, 23, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, on a tour of duty in Japan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am EST Friday, September 3, 2021, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
SrA Gunter was born December 12, 1997, in Charleston, SC, son of Patricia Dress-Gunter and the late Jeremy Dean Gunter. He was a graduate of Smiths Station High School in Smiths Station, AL. SrA Gunter proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was currently on a tour of duty in Kadena, Okinawa. He enjoyed gaming and was also a member of both the Okinawa House Hash Harriers (OH3) Club and the Car Club in Kadena, Okinawa.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by a cousin, Douglas Wade Alley.
Other than his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Briana Gunter; maternal grandmother, Ana “Ya Ya” Maria Smith and husband Walter; paternal grandmother, Phyllis DeMarco and husband Jeff; Uncles James Dress (Tara) and Pete Dress (Todd Cain); Aunts, Mary Ann Gonzalez (Frank) and Stephanie Nino (Ed); as well as several other extended family and friends.
