SSG (Ret) Michael Don Burmeister, 51, of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia.
An Eternal Life Celebration Service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at The Way Church located at 1593 Lee Road 242 Smiths Station, AL 36877 at 1:00 P.M. EST. with Reverend David Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Michael was born in Gregg County, Texas to the late Mr. Donald Carlton Burmeister and Mrs. Cora Lee Kilby Burmeister. Michael was a United States Army Veteran faithfully serving his country until his retirement in 2008. Michael received numerous citations and awards during his military career. Michael was an active member of The Way Church where he taught others how to face all adversity through Christ his Savior.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Christina Lynn Burmeister; two daughters Brianna Melissa Burmeister and Kirsten Grimmett both of Phenix City, AL; one son John Michael Burmeister of Marble Hill, GA; one sister Christy Burmeister (Leon) of Kilgore, TX; three step-sisters Vicky Holden of Austin, TX, Gail Dooley (Mike) of Winona, TX and Tommie Flournoy (Dale) of Timpson, TX; one granddaughter Grace Grimmett of Phenix City, AL and a host of friends and church family.
