Steve Edmunds, age 68, passed away on February 9, 2020. Memorial services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama, on Thursday, February 13, 2020, 6 p.m. with Reverend Ismael Valle officiating.
Steve, son of the late Ben Owen Edmunds and Sara Louise Lane Edmunds, was born February 12, 1951 in Phenix City, Alabama. After high school, he began a career as a Maintenance Engineer with Dolly Madison, where he faithfully worked for over 30 years. After retiring from Dolly Madison, Steve kept working as a Maintenance Engineer and began working in the Real Estate Division of W.C. Bradley, where he worked for over 10 years.
Steve loved to hunt; take trips to the Smokey Mountains; and spending time working in the yards. He had a tremendous talent with construction and built several houses through the years. Steve loved spending time drinking his coffee in the mornings on the porch, and having good quality time with his family, dog, and cat. His family remembers Steve as a man that knew a lot of people, never met a stranger, and believed in “working for what you had.”
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bobbie Edmunds of Smiths, Alabama; son, Jason Lang Edmunds of Smiths, Alabama; daughter, Apryl Abbink and her husband Jonathan of Phoenix, Arizona; step-daughters, Carla Anderson of Smiths, Alabama and Brandy Riley and her husband Jeremy of Salem, Alabama; two brothers, Rick Edmunds of Smiths, Alabama and Rock Edmunds and his wife Sharon, also of Smiths, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Brandon Abbink, Baileigh Abbink, Tiler Dunn, Tavin Womack, Cassidy Riley, Caleb Riley, and Kimberly Eller; two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
