Teresa “Marie” Phillips

Teresa “Marie” Phillips, age 42, resident of Salem, Alabama, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama.  Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, October 9, 2020, 11 a.m. with Reverend Hank Reeves officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 5-7 p.m.

Marie, daughter of Patty Welch Parker and the late Steven Matthew Phillips, was born June 13, 1978 at Fort Benning, Georgia.  After graduating from high school, she worked several years in the retail industry.

Marie had a full life, enjoying cooking, embroidering, fishing, listening to music, and watching sitcoms.  She looked forward to taking trips down country dirt roads, taking pictures of historical sites, old buildings, and antique furniture.  The family remembers her as a lady who loved her family and always looked forward to preparing meals for family gatherings.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Emma Welch and also her paternal grandparents, John and Linda Phillips.

Marie is survived by her mother, Patty Welch Parker and her husband Bobby of Salem, Alabama; one daughter, Grace Wilson of Auburn, Alabama; two sons, B.J. Summers of Phenix City, Alabama and Cash Wilson of Salem, Alabama; two sisters, Brooke Jesperson and her husband Jace of Lacey, Washington and Amanda Phillips and her husband Jonathan Welch of Phenix City, Alabama; two nieces, Kate and Millie Fairbanks of Lacey, Washington; two nephews, Gavin and Gunner Oswalt of Phenix City, Alabama; Step-mother, Patty Phillips and many other relatives and friends.
