Thelma Frances Akins

Thelma Frances Akins, 95, of Columbus, GA died Saturday December 26, 2020 at the Columbus Hospice House.

A private service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home 4048 Macon Road Columbus, GA.

Mrs. Akins was born January 10, 1925 in Atlanta, GA to the late William Cox and Nancy Speirs Cox.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest William Akins, and her brother, Robert Cox.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Peters of Columbus, GA and Melinda Joy Barnes (Robert) of Lugoff, SC, son Dr. Michael E. Akins (Elizabeth) of Opelika, AL, sister, Linda Graham of Stockbridge, GA, grandchildren, Ashley Schmidt, Kelly Peters Watson, Claire Goldman (Charlie), and Laura Smith (Daniel), great grandchildren, Meagan Carlisle, Brandon Indykiewicz, Hallie Schmidt, Lauren Schmidt, Will Goldman and Wyatt Goldman, Jagger Watson and great great grandchildren, Addison Carlisle and Ashlynn Carlisle.
