Thomas “Clark” Hovatter, Sr. 83, of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday, March 18, 2014 in the comfort of his home.
Graveside services will be held, Friday, March 21, 2014 beginning at, 1:00 P.M. EST at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, according to Vance-Brooks Funeral Home.
Thomas “Clark” Hovatter, Sr. was born March 21, 1930 in Dianna, WV, son of the late Jesse Hovatter and Orpha Hovatter. Thomas served his country in the United States Army, honorably serving during Korean Conflict. Thomas was a member of the VFW and commander of post 665. Thomas enjoyed wood working he was always excited to share his creations with family and friends. Thomas was a devoted family man; he enjoyed spending time with his grand-children.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Leokadja “Kathy” Hovatter; son, Thomas Clark Hovatter Jr; four sisters, Annie Hovatter, Mary Williams, Barbara Johnson and Lucille Hovatter.
Survivors include, two daughters, Lydia Meadows (Terry) of Salem, AL, and Nancy Nash, of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Clara Parker of Fairmont, WV, and Martha Martin, of Rock cave, WV; three brothers, Jesse Hovatter (Florence) of Waterloo, IW, Robert Hovatter (Louise) of Waverly, TN, and Gary Hovatter (Diann) of Ozark, AL; three grandchildren, Jason Hovatter, Jennifer Hovatter, and Victoria McIntosh; two great-grandchildren, Jade Nash and Taylor Mitchell Williams.
