Thomas Jackson Rowell, 78, of Smiths Station, AL died at Piedmont Columbus, Midtown Hospital, Columbus, GA on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. Mr. Rowell was born March 07, 1943 in Rockmart, GA son of the late Hubert Denver Rowell and Eula Belle Dunn Rowell. He was the “America Success Story” growing up poor, serving in the U. S. Air Force and working hard to build a successful career and business with Fred’s Tire. Mr. Rowell was an avid Alabama Football Fan and enjoyed playing dominos. We will remember him as the life of the party, offering comedy relief, crazy stunts and just plain funny stuff. He was very close to his family, especially his brothers. He will be missed deeply, but he will never be forgotten.
Mr. Rowell was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Rhonda Gillespie and Denny Rowell.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Linda Ponder Rowell, Smiths Station, AL; two children, Chad Rowell (Mary Ellen) and Beth Osterman (Jeremy); three brothers, Fred Rowell, Ernie Rowell (Betty) and Terry Rowell (Kathy); three grandchildren, Molly, Emily and Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends also survive.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
