Thomas Jene Cowart

Thomas Jene Cowart, 73, of Seale, AL died at his residence on Thursday, November 14, 2019.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM (EST) in Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Barry Danner and Rev. Norman Garrison officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.  The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2-4PM (EST) at the funeral home.

Mr. Cowart was born June 6, 1946 in Clarksville, GA son of the late Richard and Stella Cowart. He was a member Power of Praise Church, and was a small business owner, operating several successful ventures. Mr. Cowart loved the Lord, Alabama Football, his family, fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and dedication to his family.  We will miss him in our lives, but his wisdom, generosity and humor will never be forgotten.

Mr. Cowart was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Somonski.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rebecca Smith Cowart, Seale, AL; two children, Miranda Grimes and Richard Cowart both of Seale, AL; sister, Betty Lou Schatz, IN; two brothers, Bill and Donald Ray Cowart both of IN; five grandchildren, Leta Beth Jernigan (Jonathan), Ladonia, AL, Veronica Nelson (Tracy) Tuscaloosa, AL; Jordan Finley (Dakota), Japan, Trucker Grimes, FL and Ashton Grimes, Seale, AL; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
