Timothy Lee Hutchens

November 29, 1946 — July 16, 2017

Timothy Lee Hutchens, age 70, went home to be with our Lord Sunday, July 16, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1pm Tuesday, July 25, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel with visitation from 12-1. Burial will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.

Born and raised in Sacramento, CA Tim was the son of the late Thomas Allen Hutchens and Silvia Buchanan. He joined the U.S. Army and served faithfully throughout his military career.  A Viet Nam War veteran, Tim was awarded several medals and citations.  Following military retirement, he earned TRADOC accreditation assessor and retired from Quality Assurance at Fort Benning, GA on September 30, 2016 with more awards, medals, plaques and the Cross of St. Maurice.  He loved his job and was dedicated accomplishing much to include beginning the first Air Assault Schools.

Tim had many talents and learned trades of carpentry, woodworking, electrostatic painting and was a restaurant manager.  He loved art and drawing.  He designed, and built a home, furniture, and loved remodeling.  To those who knew Tim knows he was an avid NASCAR fan.  He engaged in many sports himself and with his family to include scuba diving, snorkeling, water and snow skiing, motor cycle riding (Gold Wing), camping and traveling.

He was a family man who loved the Lord, was devoted to his wife and loved being with his family.  He truly was a picture of unconditional love and acceptance, very kind and generous and loved life.  To those he worked for and with he was dedicated, knowledgeable and dependable and always the “go to guy.”  Everyone loved Tim.  His qualities are those anyone would be proud to emulate.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Michael Joseph Hutchens; siblings, David hutchens, Tommy Hutchens and Jean Sylvia Lamb.

Tim is survived by his wife, Fran, the love of his life 46 ½ Years; three children daughters, Nicole Thompson (Rich), Stacie Croft and son, Joseph Hutchens (April).  He also leaves behind his grandchildren Symantha Cook, Julia Thompson, Caitlin, Christopher and Caleb Croft, Madeline Hutchens-Botteicher, Skylar and Michael Hutchens, and Michaela, Meghan and Madison Luyao.
