Tommy Lee Dawson, Sr., age 84, resident of Seale, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020. Graveside services are scheduled at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 3800 Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, 11 a.m. with Reverend Ken Dawson officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama.
Mr. Dawson, son of the late Jamie Lee Dawson and Mildred Truett Dykes Dawson, was born November 30, 1935 in Barbour County, Alabama. He was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church and was retired from the textile industry where he worked as a mechanic for over 40 years. Mr. Dawson was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was also an avid Alabama football fan. Mr. Dawson loved his wife and family, and particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren. The family remembers him as a hard working man, having good character, and always wanting to take care of everyone.
Other than his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dawson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice Newsome Dawson of Seale, Alabama; two daughters, Wendy Dawson Williams and her husband Ronald of Pittsview, Alabama, and Patti Dawson Thaxton and her husband Kenny of League City, Texas; son, Tommy L. Dawson, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Seale, Alabama; brother, Billy Dawson and his wife Shirley of Salem, Alabama; five grandchildren, Ron Williams, Jamison Williams and his wife Samantha, Kacie Williams Church and her husband Chris, Kyle Thaxton and his wife Natalie, and Brittney Thaxton Little and her husband Bryan; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Williams, Levi Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, and Kassidy Williams; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
