Travis Elton Wilson, 81, of Columbus, GA passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus. A funeral service will be held at Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church, 6304 Lynridge Avenue, Columbus, GA on Thursday, April 27, 2017 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST with Pastor Kennith Chancelor officiating. The interment will conclude the service at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Ga from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. EST.
Mr. Wilson was born July 5, 1935 in Columbus, GA to the late L. B. Wilson and Myrtle Mae Todd Wilson. He was a lifetime member of Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church. He retired as a superintendent from Golden Foundries with 47 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing and the University of Georgia football. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law.
Other than his parents, Mr. Wilson is predeceased by his brother, Truman Wilson, who passed away last Wednesday.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Claudine Long Wilson; a daughter, Beth Register of Columbus, Ga; two sons, Billy Wilson (M. J.) of Navarre, FL and Bruce David Wilson of Columbus, GA; two brothers: Luther Wilson (Judy) and Jerry Wayne Wilson, both of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren: William Kevin Wilson (Jamie) of Elpaso, TX, Tiffany Marie Carlson of Columbus, GA, Justin Register of Prattville, AL, and Brandon Register of Columbus, GA.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Kirkland Baptist Church, 6304 Lynridge Avenue, Columbus, GA 31909.
