Troy Jackson Daniels, Jr.

SSGT US Army (Retired) Troy Jackson Daniels, Jr., 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services with full Military Honors will be held 2:00 pm EDT on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Fred “Bud” Rupel officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Daniels was born June 26, 1930 in Blakely, GA to the late Troy Jackson Daniels, Sr. and Nina Mae Jones Deal.  He served our country proudly and was retired from the United States Army with 20 years of service serving both in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  After his Military career, he was a self-employed contractor.  He was the recipient of numerous awards including the Combat Infantry Badge, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.  He was a 50 year mason and a former member of the Phenix City Lions Club.  Mr. Daniels enjoyed fishing, gardening, nature, and the outdoors.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Gibson, and Laura Vasquez.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Irene H. Schaefer Daniels of Phenix City, AL, one daughter, Carolyn Fielding Anderson and husband Byron O. “Bo” of Phenix City, AL, two sons, Larry Daniels and wife Lourdes of El Cerrito, CA, and Richard Daniels and wife Patricia of Phenix City, AL, one brother, Elvin H. Nix and wife Charlene of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, Clay Owen, and Courtney Alakamovitch (Michael), and two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Will, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
